Freedom Programme

We also run a 12 week programme for women who have experienced or are experiencing domestic abuse. The Freedom Programme is open to any woman who wishes to learn more about the reality of domestic violence and abuse. The aims are to help women recognise the tactics used by abusive men and also to understand the beliefs held by them and in so doing, recognise which of these beliefs they have shared, to illustrate the effects of domestic violence on children and to assist women to recognise potential future abusers. It can help women gain self-esteem and the confidence to improve the quality of their lives. It also introduces women to community resources such as Women's Aid, the Police Domestic Violence Unit, The Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre, local Colleges etc.
Further information about the Freedom Programme can be found following this link [www.freedomprogramme.co.uk]

When are we open?

Statistics

We received 1056 referrals last year (April 2008 to March 2009), 11% of which were directly from women experiencing domestic violence. We aim to respond to all referrals within 2 working days (Monday to Thursday) and we achieve this target in 89% of cases.
